In the UK approximately one in a hundred people has panic disorder. Many develop the disorder in their twenties but it can develop at any stage of your life. It is almost twice as common in women as it is in men.  An attack can happen to anyone at any time. It may be in the office, during recreation, driving, or even whilst sleeping.  A panic attack or panic disorder can be a frightening and intense experience.  It is important to remember that it is not dangerous. A panic attack will cause you no physical harm.  However it may have a big impact on your psychological well-being and performance.
